Counseling

SCORE works on the principle, that counseling is so much more effective if done by someone who has spent a good part of his professional life in the area in which the client is seeking counsel. SCORE’s philosophy of matching profiles is based on sharing professional experience rather than on dispensing the latest in scholarly theories or techniques. SCORE’s counselors can help clients understand how relevant these are and what they might get out of them.

SCORE’s counselors will also stress the importance of a solid business plan, but not actually put it together for their clients. They will support and guide the client in doing the plan him-or herself or with the help of one of SCORE’s allies at SBDC (see under Workshops or Useful Links), making sure that it becomes a meaningful planning and operational tool in the particular area of concern.
