About Us

SCORE, Counselors to America's Small Business, formerly known as the Service Corps of Retired Executives is a national volunteer organization of 11500 retired and active executives, professionals and business owners organized in 389 chapters across the country.

SCORE volunteers give some 1.3 million hours of  their time each year to share their expertise through no-fee, confidential, one-on-one counseling, mentoring, and workshops to help small entrepreneurs start, maintain or expand their business.

Since it's inception in 1964 SCORE has helped more than 7.2 million small business owners, including counsel on financing options, business planning, marketing strategies, product development and more.

In addition SCORE offers more than 6,500 local business training workshops every year.

And, last but not least, SCORE, through 1,200 of its members, offers online counseling. These counselors can be reached 24/7 through SCORE's national web page www.score.org.

SCORE is a resource partner with the US Small Business Admnistration (SBA).

A word from the Chapter Chairman

Our local chapter, Piedmont SCORE, was chartered in 1970. It has about 30 members and covers the Upstate of South Carolina. The main office is located in the Federal Building in downtown Greenville. There are subchapters in Anderson, Greenwood and Spartanburg.

Since its inception Piedmont SCORE has helped more than 12,500 entrepreneurs in the Upstate. We counsel and mentor about 500 clients each year, almost half of which are on-going cases. We make an effort to stay with our clients until they have reached their individual goals.

We also offer workshops on how to start, maintain and succeed with a small business in all our different locations.
